The Xbox One wireless controller adapter is exclusive to Windows 10 for…reasons - frenchmorgen38

As part of its whole One Terabyte Xbox One announcement now, Microsoft threw some side news show out for wire-haters: You tin can finally corrupt the $25 wireless Xbox One accountant adapter for PC "starting this fall."

Surgery at least you can if you upgrade your calculator to Windows 10. Yes, Microsoft is holding back radio receiver Xbox One controller capabilities equally a Windows 10 exclusive. As if that's the thing that's going to make you smack your forehead and go "Maybe it really is sentence to upgrade from Windows 7."

I've understood (though non necessarily agreed with) another Windows 10 exclusives—I butt see the logic, for illustration, in holding back DirectX 12. That's a huge upgrade incentive for we legions of Windows 7 gamers. But a number one wood for a USB dongle? One that adds functionality that people expected from this controller at launch?

microsoft don mattrick xbox one launch sad

Mattrick doesn't true work on Microsoft anymore, but I guess this whole thing feels beautiful "Mattrick-esque" to me.

Low blow out, Microsoft. Objectively, it's not a huge mickle. Windows 10 looks to be shaping up nicely, and since it's a free upgrade I'm probably going to move ascending sooner rather than later. Plus I have my trustworthy wired Xbox 360 controller American Samoa a fallback.

But subjectively, this form of announcement makes Microsoft look desperate. It's like I lavatory feel the whoosh of the stay put swinging toward my back, even though the carrot was to a greater extent than enough to suffice. I was already going to upgrade. There's no reason to keep striking Pine Tree State.

It's this whole "We'll state you what's good for you" mindset that gives Microsoft a bad reputation in the PC gambling community to begin with, because it's a console-convergent mental attitude. It's wherefore every meter Microsoft reiterates how much it "cares" about PC play, I roll my eyes.

Affectionate most Microcomputer gaming means supporting an active platform. It way enabling users across a broad spectrum of hardware and software to utilize your technology. If they can run it, they should be able to escape it.

My computer doesn't "magically" gain some new broadcast capabilities when I upgrade IT to Windows 10. This is purely a driver takings, and Microsoft decided not to build drivers for people on Windows 7 and Windows 8. That's ridiculous. It's the exact opposite of an open ai community.

And you know what? I doubt it will standstill. PC gamers are at their high-grade when it comes to fixing perceived slights. I can about (just about) guaranty that some enterprising individual will flip Microsoft the hiss and build Windows 7 driver support for the wireless adaptor, and I hope that's the case. Because those people—the nameless coders who see a trouble whatsoever tummy created and fix it for the hell of it—genuinely care roughly Microcomputer gaming and the recovered-being of this residential area.
